Batida - Batida

Sleeve design & logotype for the eponymous debut album of Batida, the brainchild of Lisbon-based Angolan/Portuguese Pedro Coquenão. 

What originally started out as a radio show designed to promote new African music has slowly evolved into a collaborative project crossing continents. Sampling tracks from 1970s Angola, Batida is a reinterpretation of Angola’s musical past, bringing it firmly into the modern day. Their high energy live show features dancers, percussionists, and MCs, backed by dynamic visuals; some of which informed the direction of the album cover.
